People First Consult is currently seeking a Business Growth Services Director for one of its esteemed clients—an international social enterprise dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs in growing their businesses to enhance livelihoods, foster job creation, and promote thriving communities. With a presence spanning over 22 offices across four African countries—Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Sudan—the organization boasts a workforce of over 400 employees.

Position: Business Growth Services Director

Location: Addis Ababa, with frequent travel across the country

Contract Type: Fulltime

Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for harnessing entrepreneurship to uplift lives and communities, Key qualifications include:

  • University degree (master’s or equivalent preferred)
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in micro and small enterprise development!
  • Strong preference for experience with refugee and Internally Displaced People (IDPs) entrepreneurs and financing
  • Proven leadership track record, with a focus on team development and growth
  • Proficiency in product development using human-centered design principles.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback while caring for colleagues (i.e., “Radical Candor”)
  • Proficiency in project management, budgeting, and outcome management
  • Unyielding perseverance, personal integrity, and critical thinking skills
  • A nuanced understanding of workplace justice and fairness
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines, with a balance of strategic and operational focus
  • Ability to interact with high-profile individuals with discretion, professionalism, and responsiveness
  • Fluency in English; additional proficiency in Amharic and Arabic strongly preferred, with Somali considered a plus.
