People First Consult is looking for an Export Manager for one of its clients – an international food and beverage Company.

Position: Export Manager

Reporting to: Commercial Lead

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Contract Type: Regular/Fulltime

Role Purpose

The Export Manager is responsible for achieving or exceeding the Sales and Distribution objectives in selected countries to ensure the achievement of the company’s business objectives and strategy.

He / She develops and achieves or exceeds the sales volume/revenue goals targets as defined in the Business Plan for the sales channels and controls/monitor the Sales budget to ensure optimum allocation of resources to different businesses of the company.

Besides, she/he coordinates with the Marketing Division to ensure marketing tools are provided to the trade to increase brand visibility and thereby achieve business objectives.

The Export Manager is indirectly responsible for the performance and motivation of the Sales Agents from the distributors). He/she has daily contact with the Sales Agents to track individual performances and targets. He/she will through personal counseling and/or imparting training in tactical selling skills to improve and enhance their capabilities and sales performance.

Key responsibilities:

  1. The Export Manager is responsible for managing distributors in 4 countries.
  2. Export Manager responsible for sales to all Retail Channels in selected countries.
  3. Accountable for reaching the sales target: volume sales, numeric distribution, and drop-size per customer.
  4. Managing and motivating local distributors’ sales team and responsible for daily management of the sales team, including tracking individual sales performance and team sales performance.
  5. Responsible for Everyday Great Execution of in-store merchandising.

The Export Manager must be able to:

  • Create a transparent, data-driven work environment.
  • Report sales performance on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Develop and maintain productive long-term relationships with our customers.
  • Set-up and own internal and external processes for effective customer and sales management.
  • Contribute to the development of a knowledge-based working environment regarding market trends/developments, consumers, customers, competitors, etc.
  • Work cross-functional with other departments.
  • The role requires to travel 75% of the time to the relevant markets

Key Skills/Experience Required

  • Education: BA in Business administration, Marketing Management, and related fields.
  • Experience: 4+ years’ experience in an (area) sales manager in the FMCG sector.
  • Language: Fluent in Amharic and very good understanding of English (speaking and writing).
  • Technical skills: good planner, structured way of working and very strong communication skills.

  • Experience in FMCG Sales with proven success

  • This is an Export role, responsible for all sales activities in selected countries, not in Ethiopia.
