Role Purpose
The Logistics Manager is responsible for the end-to-end import and export process. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for organizing and monitoring all imports of raw & packaging materials, CAPEX, spare parts, and Exports. In addition, managing third-party service providers for delivery of shipments in line with the agreed KPIs.
Accountabilities
- Planning and managing logistics and delivery of imported goods to ensure +60 days SOH coverage for raw materials.
- Provide input for COGS planning, working on landed cost for imports.
- Directing, optimizing, and coordinating inbound and outgoing deliveries.
- Liaising with suppliers on shipping documents and delivery timelines.
- Oversee daily operations and activities of Import/Export controllers.
- Supervise Logistics team to facilitate process of clearance, documentation, securing approval from governmental bodies.
- Ensure required bank approvals, import permits, and export licenses are in place for all processes.
- Maintain control and ensure compliance to regulations of all import and export processes, evaluate all new Customs requirements.
- Ensure shipping documents are stored properly (online and hardcopy) by the Import/Export controllers.
- Process system PO request with accurate data, follow up on approvals.
- Supervise, coach and train team.
- Logistics cost optimization by monitoring storage and demurrage costs.
- Monitor and minimize clearance lead time.
- Ensure the Import controllers validate shipping documents prior to submission to the bank, collect documents once received by the bank, facilitate payments for duty & tax, storage and other relevant payments.
- Evaluate all items for import and ensure accuracy in all values and collaborate with clearing agents to provide clearance of all imports and maintain required documents.
- Evaluating budgets and expenditures, verifying duty calculation before payment
- Perform audit on all import and export files to ensure accuracy.
- Liaise with Finance team to facilitate Freight, duty, clearing agent service charges.
- Share GIT report with relevant stakeholders.
- Develop SOPs for Import and export processes.
- Manage customs clearing agents’ performance and ensure all invoices are settled as per the payment terms.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Procurement, logistics.
- 5 years of experience working in International Logistics.
- Knowledge and understanding of Customs procedures.
- Good communication skills,
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Reporting and Analysis.
- Strong critical thinking and strategic skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills with ability to be flexible and work well under pressure.
- Result oriented, organised, and able to meet deadlines.
- Skilled in spreadsheet programs
- Hands-on experience using ERP systems.
