People First Consult is looking for a Sales Manager for one of its clients.

A globally-renowned food and beverage company with a presence in over 200 countries.

The company is currently expanding its business in Ethiopia, a key growth market in East Africa and they are in search of top-notch Sales Manager to join their team.

Position Details

Position: Sales Manager

Reports to: Commercial Lead

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Contract Type: Regular

Role Purpose

The Sales Manager is responsible for achieving or exceeding the Sales and Distribution objectives in the respective Region to ensure achievement of company’s business objectives and strategy.

He/She is responsible for the execution of Routes as outlined by the GTM strategy. Works closely with both GTM and DX teams to ensure all plans are executed at outlet level.

He/She develops and achieve or exceed the sales volume/revenue goals targets as defined in the Business Plan for the sales channels and control/monitor the Sales budget to ensure optimum allocation of resources to different businesses of the company.

Besides, she/he coordinate with the Marketing and DX to ensure all marketing and merchandising tools are provided to the trade to increase brand visibility and thereby achieve business objectives.

The Sales Manager motivate and lead a High-Performance Sales Team. Check individual performances of the Sales Team and motivate them, either through personal counseling and/or imparting training in tactical selling skills to improve and enhance their capabilities and sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales Manager is responsible for the Traditional Trade business.
  2. Accountable for reaching the sales target: volume sales, numeric distribution, drop-size per customer.
  3. Managing and motivating the sales team and responsible for daily management of the sales team, including tracking individual sales performance and team sales performance.
  4. Responsible for Every Day Great Execution of instore merchandising.

The Sales Manager must be able to:

  • Lead a big sales team
  • Create a transparent, data-driven work environment.
  • Report of sales performance on daily/weekly/monthly base.
  • Develop and maintain productive long-term relationships with our customers.
  • Set-up and owning internal and external processes for effective customer and sales management.
  • Contribute to the development of a knowledge based working environment regarding market trends/developments, consumers, customers, competitors, etc.
  • Work cross functional with other departments.
  • Manage demand forecast on weekly basis and monthly basis, and timeously feedback to the business should there be a need to adjust Product assortment.

Differentiating Competencies Required

  • Social skills: Responsible, convincing, good networker, serious, hard-working, eager to learn & receive feedback and a can-do mentality.
  • Experience in FMCG Sales with proven success.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Education: BA in Business administration, Marketing Management, and related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years’ experience in an (area) as sales manager in FMCG sector.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Must be able to develop strategy and work with daily operations
  • Language: Fluent in Amharic and very good understanding of English (speaking and writing).
  • Technical skills: good planner, organizational skills, structured way of working analytic and very strong communication skills.
